Life has been a bit more crazy than usual lately.  Just when we think we have control over some things and believe we are following the correct and only path, something comes your way to de-rail your entire thought process.  It can be something that presents as a problem or it can be something that presents as an opportunity.  This summer appears to be full of these detours.  Some have been painful, and others have presented themselves as true “Ah Ha!” moments.  Either way, I am amazed at our innate ability to adjust even when our guts are wrenched with emotions.  I guess this is where you just have to let go and allow yourself to listen, process and feel.

It is remarkable how our business keeps on taking on a life of its own.  Both Lisa and I think we have it all figured out and it seems like the instant we push full steam ahead, an idea settles to the top, a dream is fleshed out and we once again find ourselves re-calibrating.  For instance, in the beginning we thought we were merely selling products at retail.  We would load up our vehicles with product, table, banner, chairs and owls and sit in the blistering sun at every outdoor event we could find.  We met great folks and chatted up a storm about the products, owls, pets and the rescue.  We usually went home starving and aching from the day, making lists of what we needed to make more of and where we were going next.  Then we tried our products in stores, while still selling our products at events.  Now we find ourselves as boutique manufacturers, white labeling our products to other stores.  During the day we work at our day jobs, and at night and in the early morning hours we roll up our sleeves and get down and dirty making products.  I looked at my dining room this morning and realized that there were thousands of tiny bottles of product sitting there ready to be fully dressed in their labels, packed and shipped.  I wonder…how did this happen?  We got de-railed.  In a good way.  Things just happen, and no matter how I try to wrap my brain around this, I still find myself shocked from time to time.

Now we are on the cusp of another couple of cool things that are taking form.  We will let you know as soon as we know for sure. The one thing I can say with certainty is that although this journey we are on is crazy, tiring and constantly putting us to the test, I am thankful to be traveling along with my best friend and sister, Lisa.  That is all, 'cause who knows what the universe has in store for us next!

Have an awesome weekend.

Xoxo- Janine
